The Grand Estate at Kilruddery
We depart Dublin and make Killruddery House our first stop, an estate house and extensive parkland built in the 17th Century. The historical house and gardens are stunning, set in 850 acres of working farm and protected biodiversity and lived in by the same family for 400 years. Fionnuala Ardee, one of the family members at Killruddery will explain the history of the house whilst taking us through the Walled Garden, noting various herbs and vegetables. We can forage for seasonal edible plants within the Gardens. The Head Chef will meet guests along the walking route to offer Killruddery Pork Sausage Roll eaten with freshly picked leaves.
A healthy, outdoorsy start to the day with some beautiful photo opportunities over the grand estate.
Pam and Brett, Makers of Wicklow Way Wines
Here we’ll meet the creators of Ireland’s first and only premium fruit wines – Wicklow Way Wines.
Ireland has a long but little-known history of making wines from the wild, native fruits of the island. Tour the winery with owners Pamela or Brett, and hear how they’ve built on the old traditions to create their genuine Irish Strawberry and Irish Blackberry Wines. Then enjoy a taste of both wines and relish their unique characteristics, from the aromas to the colours and flavours of the wines, described as the Irish summer in a glass.

Patrick’s Baked Goods
Next stop is the award-winning Firehouse bakery to meet the owner and baker Patrick Ryan. Pull up a seat and relax as Patrick tells his story and shares his passion for real bread with you. Let Patrick bring you into his world as you tour the bakery, sample bread and smell and taste starter cultures. There will even be enough time to enjoy pizzas and flatbreads from the wood-fired oven that sits at the heart of the bakery. They say that if you learn the stories of a place you’ll come to understand the soul of its people, we believe to understand Irish food you have to learn the stories of the people behind it.
Tasty range of Craft Beers at Wicklow Wolf
Finish the day with a craft beer at the Wicklow Wolf Brewery. Wolves feature prominently in Irish history but were sadly hunted to extinction, the last one was spotted in the Wicklow area. Meet Quincey, co-owner of this brewery for a fun and informal tour and tasting. Wicklow Wolf Brewery are brave enough to grow their own hops in Ireland, no mean feat with our climate!! Get a tour of the brew-house, see, smell and taste the ingredients and learn about the brewing process before tasting a selection of tasty Irish craft beers in the adjoining tap house.
Travel back to Dublin having had a taste of truly unique local flavours all fermented in different ways.
